Centers for Disease Control (CDC) files relate to Francis’s work in the United States Department of Health and Human Services, Public Health Service, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Material includes correspondence, patient medical records, research and reports, related publications and clippings, Francis notebooks and calendars, and other material, including a very small number of photographs. Major subjects include HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, and Ebola. Some files include restricted material; restrictions are noted at the carton and/or folder level.

Carton is restricted. It includes correspondence, patient medical records, research and reports, publications, notebooks of Aguek Chol Agoth, and other material related to Ebola [African Hemorrhagic Fever] outbreaks, including the 1976 outbreak in Nzara, Maridi, and other parts of South Sudan and the 1995 outbreak in Zaire. Material includes restricted personal information and protected health information (PHI). Access to PHI is restricted in accordance with HIPAA rules. Material will be reviewed upon request.
