Scope and Contents

From the Series:

This series contains correspondence, announcements, memorial service invitations, grant applications, newspaper clippings, fundraising flyers, photographs, speeches, and press releases, arranged by month from June 1981-December 1993. There was no file for February 1991. The series starts with a single, June 1981, paper on the appearance of Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) among gay males and ends with a single letter from December 1993, thanking Conant for his service as Chair of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD)'s Committee on HIV Diseases and hoping that he would remain involved with the AAD. The materials in between document Conant's work during the intervening period including medical research, lobbying, and community outreach activities, as well as conference attendance, travel, hosting of colleagues from around the nation and the world, and letters from friends and the public.
