Hotline Referral Manual for Northern California, circa 1985
Scope and Contents
This subseries contains materials related to the operation of the AIDS Hotline including volunteer training. Volunteers depended on a resource known as the "Referral Manual" or "Encyclopedia." Copies of this volume, a compilation of facts, figures, and available services, were kept next to each telephone in the Hotline Office. The manual was updated on an occasional basis. The Hotline Referral Manuals and the Hotline training manuals were vital in carrying out the hotline's mission. Three different versions of the referral manual and four versions of the training guide can be found in this subseries. This subseries is also of interest to those interested in volunteer utilization.
