Scope and Contents
This collection consists of various materials collected and produced by Claire Rappoport, the Community Liaison to the INSIGHT Clinical Trials Network, in the late 1980s, the 1990s, and the early 2000s. Throughout her career, Rappoport collected educational materials, conference memorabilia, publications, research, and newspaper clippings. Rappoport's assortment of pins, buttons, and magnets are also included alongside posters, audiovisual materials, and computer media. These materials all pertain to the AIDS epidemic and her advocacy work on a domestic and global scale. In Rappoport's work and in the collection, there is a focus on women and lesbians during the AIDS epidemic and their work as caregivers, but also as patients themselves. The educational materials included in the collection provide information targeted to the community as well as physicians and caregivers to spread awareness of AIDS, its prevention, and it's possible treatment.

Biographical / Historical
Claire Rappoport serves as Community Liaison to the International Network for Strategic Initiatives in Global HIV Trials (INSIGHT) Clinical Trials Network. She is based in the UCSF Department of Medicine, Positive Health Program, Community Consortium. Throughout her career, Rappoport was a part of national and international efforts to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS. She attended International Conferences on AIDS and the National Conference on Women and HIV/AIDS and collected educational materials for the community and for physicians. She highlighted the often-overlooked role of women and lesbians in the AIDS epidemic, both as patients and as caregivers.
