Scope and Contents This series documents Lee's work at the Department of Health, Education and Welfare, during the Johnson Administration. He became Deputy Assistant Secretary in August 1965 and was promoted to Assistant Secretary for Health and Science two months later. He left DHEW in February 1969 to become Chancellor of UCSF.
